Vacancy Announcement for Development of Technical Handbook on Integrated Watershed Management

1. Background
With references to this subject, the project, “Integrated Forest Ecosystem Management Planning and Demonstration Project in Greater Mekong Sub-region (Myanmar), is a cooperative project between the Forest Department of Ministry of Natural Resources and Asia Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation. The key outputs of the project will be establishment of 25 ha of Arboretum in Forest Research Insitute compound and establishment of 50ha agroforestry demonstration plots in Paung Laung watershed, Pin Laung Township, Shan State. ‘An integrated forest management technology assembled and a technical handbook formulated’ is one of the project expected outputs. For the stated activities, we would like to invite the application for Consultants of following position.
2. Aims of development of technical handbook on integrated watershed management
A technical handbook on integrated watershed management is planned to be formulated in order to form, share the experiences and lessons of the project and to assist other watershed area by guiding how watershed area can be successfully managed by integration of ecological, economic and social benefits.
3. Key responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the national consultant is to develop technical handbook on integrated watershed management in English and Myanmar language. In order to develop the technical handbook, the national consultant will have to carry out the following tasks:
1. To review the published reports, papers and articles on integrated watershed management in Myanmar.
2. To write the integrated watershed management methods and practices implemented by this FD-APFnet (IFEM) project to success ecological, economic and social benefits to assist other watershed areas.
3. To conduct field inspection in the project areas and organize focus group discussions with relevant stakholders as necessary.
4. To share the technical handbook with project team members and technical members from Forest Department to get comments and suggestions.
5. To develop the technical handbook at least 50 pages in each language.

4. Qualifications
• Advanced degree related with Social Forestry, Agroforestry, Community Forestry and other watershed related subjects.
• At least 10 years of working experiences in Socioeconomic Studies, Agroforestry related projects, Livelihood Improvement projects and Community Forestry.
• Experience of working in integrated watershed mangement practices.

5.Location of the work
• Forest Research Institute, Forest Department, Nay Pyi Taw and Lein Li Village.
6. Consultancy fee
The executive agency of the project (Forest Research Institute) will pay the following fixed price to the consultant for services performed under contract:
Fixed Price: 3,400 $ which is equivalent with MMK according to the currency exchange rate of Myanmar Economic Bank (MEB).
(Note: Transportation, accommodation and logistics arrangements for the field visit in the project area are included. 30 % of payment will be after contract. Another 70% will be paid after drafting the Techncial Hanbook. )
